What is Model Context Protocol?
Also known as: MCP
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI models to external tools and data sources through a common interface.
MCP standardizes how models discover and call tools, so any compatible client can use any compatible server. It's a growing ecosystem for plugging capabilities into AI systems without bespoke glue for each one.
A capability mesh and MCP are complementary: MCP is one way capabilities can be exposed; the mesh is how an agent searches across many of them to pick the right one at runtime.
